Artist Statement

I am a 25-year old textiles artist living in the Stepney Green area of East London. I have recently finished a Textiles degree at Goldsmiths College. I have a broad experience in Art and Design as a result of having exhibited and curated a range of shows. I had an unusual and creative upbringing as the home-schooled daughter of artists living in Snowdonia, and I have since travelled widely to broaden my experience in Europe, America and the South Pacific.

Surroundings, places, times and memories of both past and present are key factors in my making process. What experiences surround me at the time of making my work is incredibly important to the final result. I use a combination of autobiographical events combined with the everyday experience to create these small worlds, which are based in and around the form of the book.

Making books is a process that I have continued from my childhood. I am interested in getting involved in the intimacy and physicality that the book provides, and as a form allows me to explore my ongoing concern with narrative.
