Angela Gardner’s dual practice as both a printmaker and poet inform her exploration of the sensory and graphic elements of the written as visual language. She trained in letterpress at San Francisco Center for the Book during a Churchill Fellowship. Currently she is testing the boundaries of writing and drawing using Julia Kristeva’s argument for the materiality of language and Derrida’s absent/presence narrative and the silence of spaces interpreted as the artworld’s ‘negative space’. As a poet she is the author of Views of the Hudson, Shearsman Press 2009 and Parts of Speech (selected poetry) University of Queensland Press.
